May 25, 2013 · Kevin, thanks for taking the time to answer my question. I have lived at my residence for more than 19 years and this is the first time I've seen this happen. Also, when walking around our neighborhood, I am noticing the same immature green pine cones in other's yards. Our trees appear to be healthy.

The "thorns" on the cones point upwards and can be quite painful when you hold the pine cone. The bottom of the pine cone is flat. Can you tell me what tree produced this pine cone? Jul 6, 2023 · (I am guessing it is around 30 years old.) This spring, I saw that there were a lot of green pine cones forming in the very top branches. Now, we have had a few bad storms with high winds. We also have had drought-like conditions. I am wondering why so many of the immature pine cones are dropping before they have a chance to develop.
