Virat Kohli was called out by some of the game's greats on Thursday after appearing to deliberately bump shoulders with young Australian batsman Sam Konstas.

Virat Kohli was fined and received a demerit point for an on-field incident with Australian debutant Sam Konstas during the Boxing Day Test at the MCG. The incident involved a shoulder bump, leading to a verbal exchange.

Virat Kohli is on the cusp of overtaking Ricky Ponting in a huge batting list topped by Sachin Tendulkar. Virat can go past Ponting in the ongoing Boxing Day Test match against Australia. The former India captain is among one of the best batters in world cricket.

The incident occurred at the end of the 10th over of Australia’s innings when Kohli and Konstas collided while crossing paths on the field.

The ICC match referee has reportedly reviewed the incident involving Virat Kohli and Sam Konstas, and handed out punishments.

"Have a look where Virat [Kohli] walks, ” Ponting said. “Virat's walked one whole pitch over to his [Sam Konstas] right and instigated that confrontation. No doubt in my mind whatsoever."

Virat Kohli seemed to have deliberately made a physical contact with Sam Konstas in the attempt to unnerve the Australia batter during the Day 1 of Boxing Day Test.
