The Republican-controlled House approved a resolution Friday that would overturn a new Biden administration rule on automobile emissions that Republicans say would force Americans to buy unaffordable electric vehicles they don’t want.

The U.S. House of Representatives has voted in favor of H.J. Res 136 to repeal a rule from the Environmental Protection Agency to set vehicle emission caps. Critics argue that the EPA’s “Multi-Pollutant Emissions Standards for Model Years 2027 and Later Light-Duty and Medium-Duty Vehicles” sets emission standards so low it forces automakers to increase production of electric vehicles to comply with the new rules.
