After years of anticipation, the high-tech indoor golf league spearheaded by two of the sport’s modern greats is finally ready to tee off Tuesday night.

TGL had its debut match Tuesday night, with Rickie Fowler, Matt Fitzpatrick and Xander Schauffele of New York Golf Club taking on Shane Lowry, Wyndham Clark and Aberg of The Bay Golf Club in the opener.

TGL, a tech-infused simulator league backed by Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy, combines team golf and simulator golf in a slick package that will air live on TV.

Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy watched on as the opening match of the inaugural TGL season – the new high-tech indoor golf league attempting to revolutionize golf – took place on Tuesday.

The Bay GC claimed the first match of the inaugural TGL season, a 9-2 win over New York GC, with Shane Lowry, Ludvig Åberg and Wyndham Clark playing like they were in a major. Xander Schauffele, Matt Fitzpatrick and Rickie Fowler, meanwhile, played like they were hitting into a simulator.

TGL enjoyed a successful launch, garnering an impressive TV audience as the tech-powered golf league debuted, and the involvement of Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy will only take it to another level
