The Super Bowl champs are giving Baun a three-year contract valued at $51 million. That's quite the haul for a guy who was an under-the-radar signing by the Eagles. Baun forced five fumbles and had an interception for Philly.

The Eagles are re-signing All-Pro linebacker Zack Baun, according to league sources, securing the future of one of their biggest free agents before he could hit the market next week.

It also makes it more difficult for the Eagles to keep their other three top pending free agents in defensive linemen Milt Williams and Josh Sweat, and right guard Mekhi Becton. Free agency begins Monday at noon, with deals official beginning Wednesday at 4 p.m.

There are other good short-term veteran options (Bobby Wagner, Lavonte David) but Sherwood's age (25 years old) gives him a bump. Sherwood, a fifth-round draft pick in 2021, had just seven starts before last season, when he got a shot to start full time and ran with it, picking up 158 tackles. He can be a long-term three-down option.
