The White House commended Pope Francis for his commitment to serving the poor, as well as advocating for peace and protecting the planet.

President Joe Biden awarded several Presidential Medals of Freedom this weekend. Among the recipients: Seattle’s own “Bill Nye the Science Guy” who, of course, wore his signature bow tie at the White House ceremony. Nye got his start in television on KING 5’s “Almost Live!” comedy show.

The award recognizes exceptional contributions to the prosperity, values, and security of the United States, world peace, or other significant societal achievements.

Denzel Washington is widely regarded as one of the greatest actors of his generation, but he remans a blind spot for the BAFTAs.
