Tens of thousands have fled their homes as a brush fire in the Pacific Palisades has burned nearly 20,000 acres as of Friday. Fire crews are actively working to stop forward progress of the flames, which is currently 6% contained.

A Ventura County firefighter was struck by a vehicle Tuesday while deployed on the Palisades Fire. The Ventura County Fire Department said the firefighter was taken to a local hospital in stable condition.

The Los Angeles area wildfires have forced more than 100,000 people from their homes. Aaron Samson and his 83-year-old father-in-law, who has Parkinson's disease, escaped on foot from the Palisades Fire after they were forced to get out of their car.

Officials say the two biggest wildfires ravaging the Los Angeles area this week have burned at least 10,000 homes, buildings and other structures

An analysis by J.P. Morgan estimates that the insured losses from the Southern California wildfires could exceed $20 billion and push overall economic losses to $50 billion.
