A powerful storm that will bring heavy rain, gusty winds and flash flooding is set to hit the Hawaiian Islands Wednesday evening.

Potentially damaging southwest wind, a risk for severe thunderstorms, flash flooding and heavy snow on the peaks of the Big Island’s volcanoes are all in the forecast.

Oahu was drenched throughout Thursday with Waimanalo recording 7 inches of rain for the 24 hours ending at 9:45 p.m. Other areas getting about 6 inches of rain or more included Hawaii Kai, Maunawili and Niu Valley.

Flood Watches are in effect for all the Hawaiian islands as a storm swings by bringing heavy rain, possible strong thunderstorms and damaging wind gusts.
