San Diego FC has announced it will use pre-match and in-stadium messaging, enhanced security measures and strong enforcement of policies to discourage fans from engaging in what it called discriminatory chants at home matches.

After a homophobic slur was chanted by some fans at San Diego FC's inaugural home opener, the club announced Thursday it would implement increased security and eject fans who make "discriminatory goal kick chants" during matches.

MLS expansion team San Diego FC launched a comprehensive plan to combat the anti-gay goalkeeper chant heard throughout Snapdragon Stadium in its home-opener match against St. Louis City on March 1.
