A new law in NH requiring proof of U.S. citizenship to register and vote recently prevented Milford and Durham residents from voting.

Election officials, state attorneys general and legal experts say President Donald Trump's executive order seeking to reshape election processes throughout the U.S. will likely face legal challenges for violating the Constitution.

Republicans argue that this step is necessary to restore trust in the election system. While it is already illegal for noncitizens to vote in federal elections punishable by felony charges and potential deportation will prevent any potential violations.
