National Weather Service survey crews will be studying ground damage and video footage to confirm reports of five tornadoes across Southeast Texas.

Severe weather has struck the Houston metro area, with several tornadoes touching down and prompting warnings in multiple counties.

On Thursday, the National Weather Service issued a tornado warning for the Houston metro area as a severe storm system is rolling through Texas.

One tornado swirled through fields near El Campo, Texas on Thursday, roughly midway between Houston and Victoria. Another twister touched down near Atascocita in Harris County, then moved over Lake Houston.
