A Russia-linked tanker suspected of cutting Baltic Sea cables has been tugged to port amid reports it was loaded with “spy equipment”.

The Finnish police reported the relocation of the tanker Eagle S to the port of Porvoo due to suspicion of damage to the EstLink2 cable. "The operation went according to plan," stated the communiqué.

Finnish police intend to transport the Eagle S, a Russia-linked tanker the authorities seized after suspecting it of intentionally damaging a Baltic Sea power cable, to shore. The tanker is to be moved from the Gulf of Finland to an anchorage near the Finnish port of Kilpilahti to facilitate the investigation,

Finnish authorities said on Saturday they are moving an impounded tanker closer to port after boarding the vessel carrying Russian oil earlier this week on suspicion it had damaged an undersea power line and four telecoms cables.
