The Florida Panthers took one on the chin this week from the New Jersey Devils. After getting dropped by the Devils 4-1 on Tuesday night, Florida came back and found a similar effort on Thursday, falling 6-2 to New Jersey. For the second straight game, it was Devils jumping out to a first period lead on the Cats.

In the first five minutes of the second period, right off a faceoff win for the Panthers, Sam Reinhart’s shot from the dot beat Jake Allen far side to tie the game, 2-2. As they have done multiple times throughout the season, New Jersey responded to their opponents goal with multiple strong shifts.

The New Jersey Devils headed into Amerant Bank Arena with the goal of completing the improbable road sweep against the defending champion Florida Panthers. They did so successfully, taking the Cats down 6-2, their seventh win in their last nine games. They’re now 12-6-2.
