Audubon Chrysler in Henderson, Kentucky has finally taken down the Dodge Viper it has been using as a sign for most of the past three decades. The brash two-door will be refurbished before returning to its perch overlooking U.S. Highway 41.

A Dodge Viper that spent 28 years on top of a Kentucky dealership sign has been brought back down to Earth. Audubon Chrysler has only removed the Viper once before for a refresh and that was 15 years ago.

Since 1996, the Audubon Chrysler dealership in Henderson, Kentucky has had a first-gen Dodge Viper atop its road sign. For years, locals assumed that it was just a body shell or that it lacked a powertrain,

Now, the dealership is bringing the V-10 sports car down for reconditioning and cleaning for the second time ever after three decades of wear-and-tear, according to reports from TriState Homepage. Based on photos posted to Facebook that reveal the removal process, the Viper is long overdue for a detail.
