Two people were arrested after a heist at a South Bay grocery store in which more than $1,000 in meat was stolen over the New Year's holiday, deputies said.

Two suspects were arrested after stealing more than $1,000 worth of meat from a Safeway in Cupertino, the Santa Clara County Sheriff’s Office (SCCSO) said Sunday in a social media post. The theft happened last week at the Safeway on 20620 W Homestead Road.

Two people were arrested after they allegedly shoplifted more than $1,200 worth of meat from a Cupertino Safeway last week, officials said. On Dec. 28, 2024, just before 11 a.m., the Santa Clara County Sheriff’s Office received a report of theft from a store on Homestead Road, Brooks Jarosz, a spokesperson for the office, told SFGATE.

Over $1,000 worth of stolen meat was recovered by sheriff’s deputies last week in Cupertino in what is being described as a “rare case” by the Santa Clara County Sheriff’s Office.
