Very interesting museum. The Gates of Paradise doors were simply amazing. A lot of the stuff inside used to be in the duomo but were moved here after the big flood in 1966 to preserve it.Full review by TerriStu

The Dumo and Cupula are separate with different entrances. The cupola will take a hour depending on how busy (narrow stairways etc). The Dumo will take 1-1.1/2hrs. Museum dell opera - allow 2 hours Book all in advance - also beats the queues but be careful that on-line booking also needs to be validated in some sites and like, the cupola, you also need a time slot (1/2 intervals) - we did this at the Museo dell opera entrance where there is a machine!
