It was not worth it. We didn't see any whales, just dolphins. Many companies offer the same service. When one ship spots the dolphins, it starts to rush towards them, followed by all the others. the …Full review by Barbara Z

Hi, me and my partner are travelling to Sri Lanka in the second week of May, we wanted to know if it would be worth Whale Watching in Mirissa. I have read that the Whales do start to travel up the North/East in May, so wanted to know if it would even be worth it? Also, any advise on anti-sea sickness tablets would be helpful as well, thank you.

From my point of view it’s not worth it at all. The boats are equipped with crampy congested plastic chairs. The actual time spent to see the whales is no more than few mins. To reach to the whales watching spot you have to spend roughly 1.5-2hrs going into the ocean and same going back. Sea sickness tablets were not provided on our boat and many people vomited that day (5-6 people). You can get the tablets from any pharmacy. You can ask your driver to get you them. Best of luck and enjoy your time wherever you choose to go :)
