Kathy, I asked the operator of the local shuttle bus service this exact question only last week but didn’t get a satisfactory answer. The Lyttelton cruise terminal is brand new & will commence operations in late October 2022. It appears that local tour operators will need to be approved by the cruise ship operators & tickets must be bought on the ship. As yet this doesn’t seem to have been finalised. As Akaroa was so popular as a cruise destination, I am hoping a full day tour from Lyttelton to Akaroa will be offered next summer.
